Greetings Neighbors,

My name is Dwight Hunsicker, a fellow resident in the greater Grande Dunes community. Like many of you, I’ve developed a passion for the fast-growing and fun sport of pickleball.

Over the past 18+ months, a small group of us have been hard at work developing The PicklePort — a premier pickleball venue right here in Myrtle Beach. With a planned opening in late Summer 2026, The PicklePort will become the area’s first dedicated indoor and covered outdoor pickleball complex, situated on six acres directly across from Myrtle Beach International Airport. The location offers easy access for players from Market Commons, Carolina Forest, Surfside, Conway, and surrounding Horry County communities.

We’d love to share our vision, progress, and ways to get involved at our upcoming community session:

Most of the hard work on land development has been completed, and much of the project’s early risk has been reduced or eliminated. You’ll hear directly about project milestones, next steps, opportunities for involvement, and how The PicklePort will benefit our community.

Accomplishments To Date:

  • All environmental permits approved

  • “PicklePort” trademark approved (pending use in commerce)

  • 20+ year lease finalized with City of Myrtle Beach (March 2025)

  • Administrative and procedural elements approved for this public/private project

  • Initial Site Construction Permits received (September 2025)

  • City Council unanimously approved Concession/Lease Agreement (1st Reading: Sept 23; 2nd

    Reading: Oct 14)

  • 550+ potential members joined mailing list and completed surveys

  • Fundraising via Private Placement Memorandum for accredited investors underway

  • Draft Term Sheet received from South Atlantic Bank to finalize capitalization plan
